On Saturday January 22nd, the Super Mash Bros put on a sick show for Irving Plaza in NYC. They played continuous mashups of really well-known songs for about an hour that made you want to dance and/or sing along. The amount of energy they brought, along with the great music and visuals, kept the entire crowd into it the whole time. Gotta say though, their openers, (DJ) Yale Fox and 8-bit band, Anamanaguchi, did an amazing job keeping everyone entertained during the almost 4 hour wait from the time the doors opened at 8 to the time the Super Mash Bros got on at 11:45 (it was well worth it though).

Super Mash Bros. Display Another Side of Mash-Up At Irving Plaza

Like all others within the ever-expanding genre of mash-up, Super Mash Bros. are a music lover’s paradise. While mash-up artists all strive to serve a healthy dose of rock, pop and hip-hop on a plate, these guys garnish it with a whole lot of party and dance. And yes, it’s as crazy as it sounds. On Saturday night, Irving Plaza was a super secret house party that originally including your closest friends, but somehow spilled into your garage.

I spoke with two-thirds of the collective known as Super Mash Bros. Nicolas Fenmore and Ethan Dawes (Dick Fink does not travel with them) before their sold-out show that night. The mellow guys greeted me with handshakes and conversations about New York’s frigid weather before spilling the details about their next mixtape, the extent of their musicianship, having a back up plan and the records they can’t live without.

With a new album coming out this spring, We Got This Covered thought we’d reach out to the hit mashup group Super Mash Bros and talk with them about it. After gigantic success with their previous two albums, ‘Fuck Bitches, Get Euros’ and ‘All About The Scrillions’, the guys hope to follow up with an exciting third album. We were lucky enough to get the chance to talk with Nicolas Fenmore, one of the founding members of the group. We discuss the group, their plans for the future and we get an exclusive on one of their new songs!
